Forensic Dentistry
Dr. Chris Fielding will discuss forensic dentistry at the February General
Membership Meeting. His presentation is entitled “Bringing Them
Home: Case Files from the Joint POW-MIA Accounting Command.”
Colonel Fielding is currently assigned to the Department of Oral &
Maxillofacial Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in
Washington, DC. Colonel Fielding serves as the Consultant to the Army
Surgeon General in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Forensic
Odontology. Colonel Fielding earned his D.D.S. from Case Western
Reserve University in 1987. Upon graduating, he entered active duty and
completed a 1-yr AEGD program at Ft. Benning, GA. In 1996, he
completed his residency program in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at
the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD and received a
Masters Degree in Health Sciences from George Washington University.
He is a fellow in the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial
Pathology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology.

The general membership meeting will be held at the Silver Spring
Crowne Plaza on Georgia Avenue near the intersection of Spring Street
(formerly the Holiday Inn). Valet parking is available or there is metered
parking behind the hotel. Two hours of CE credit are earned for
attending the lecture. The dinner and lecture are free of charge to
current SMDS members. Members may bring a guest for an additional
